Endhiran - The Robot

The most anticipated movie "Endhiran" released in 4000 screens world-wide is rocking to the core. The most expected film received much of hypes right from the day of the audio release function which took place in a rich manner at Putrajaya International Convention Center, Malaysia. Like adding fuel to it, Sun Pictures is advertising the film through its media and press partners all over the day. India's most expensive film which is to the World class standard is really superb. It is a bookmark for Shankar's talent and creativity, though some of the scenes remind you of some hollyWood movies like Terminator. The movie involves all the big names in all the aspects other than the hero Rajnikanth and heroine AishwaryaRai Bhachan. AR Rahman's music is spellbound and in these past two months one could have seen that almost everyone were humming the song every now and then. Vairamuthu and his son have made hard works in searching for the hi-tech and sci-tech words. For instance, lines like " neutron electron un neela kannil", "silicon singam", " en neela pallale(bluetooth) unnodu siripen" will make your mouth say an instantaneous "awesome". Danny Denzongpa is a perfect choice to play the villain role and his face is really very apt, giving the look of a terrific scientist and a scientific terrorist. The scenes in the songs sequences and the shots made at the Brazilian Desert and those at Machu Picchu are good evidence to guess that this is a Shankar film.
Coming to the plot, the story starts with the Scientist Vaseegaran(Rajnikanth) building his robot(chitti). He brings it to his residence and the story proceeds saying what a robo can do for a man with some added comedies by Santhanam and Karunas in the middle. Sana's(Aishwarya Rai) introduction comes in the meantime. The robo does many help to Sana including helping her in writing her exams, as a result they become good friends. Vaseegaran takes Chitti to a test and demonstrates its talent to the panel members and assures them that his creation will stand as a one man army in the Nation's border. While all the members of the crew are about to approve the robo, Scientist Bohra(Danny) who is also Vaseegaran's professor, rejects it citing the reason that the robo might kill its own colleagues too if it were given ambigious instructions. He points out that it is just a programable machine devoid of any human feelings. Evenyually the jealous scientist had revenge against his student.
Vaseegaran starts working in injecting human feelings to Chitti by giving proper training and programs it for speech recognition and expression detection qualities. The robot is a grand success and is made adaptable and recognizable for anger, happiness, love etc. Due to this, the machine falls in love with Sana and gradually stats disobeying its master. Seeing on these Vaseegaran becomes angry and uncontrollable. He dismantles the robot and throws it in the garbage. Meanwhile, Bohra comes to know all these incidents, he goes to the corporation garbage collection center, finds the dismantled robo, programs it and gives it some additional destructive instructions through a chip. He then plans to exchange it with an overseas terrorist gang for good cash. While these things were going on the reprogrammed robot, starts developing more robots of its kind and buids its own kingdom. It kills Bohra and brings Sana to his kingdom from the Wedding hall where she was sitting ready with Vaseegaran for the ceremonies to go on. The story then goes on telling how destructive the machine is, all what are the ill consequences Vaseegaran faces and how he overcomes them and saves the people.
It is really a good ficiton, a rare and first of its kind in kollywood, gives you the feeling of seeing a HollyWood movie. We have already seen these kinds of stuffs in HollyWood where the supernatural imaginary characters invade the mertos like NewYork or Washington. Whereas here you will enjoy seeing the invasion of chennai by the robot especially the fight scenes at the kathipara Grade separator, IT corridor and the electric trains. The extraordinary scenes and some unrealistic stuffs handled by Shankar are also acceptable since they are associated with an artificial intelligence and not with a natural one. Hence cent percent satisfaction and entertainment is assured for the audience.

Raavanan - a review

The most awaited film Raavanan was screened on 18th June, simultaneously in Hindi and Tamil and dubbed in Telugu as Villan. The film was both directed and produced by Manirathnam with his wife Suhasini being the script-writer.

Actor Vikram did a wonderful job by acting in both the languages in two entirely different opposite roles. Interesting news is that he played both these roles one after another repeatedly with just 15 minutes for changing the costumes and make-up. In the Hindi version, Manirathnam made him to speak dubbing in his own voice.
Aishwarya Rai too did the best in her part. She wanted to do dubbing in her own voice in the Tamil version of the film(because only if she does that, she will be able to sit as one of the nominees for the National Awards). But since the director was not convinced with her Tamil pronunciation, he made actress RohiniRaghuvaran do that job.

Coming to the Story, we can say that it is the modern version of the epic Ramayana. Pritviraj(Dev) is depicted as Ram, Aish(Ragini) as Sita and Vikram(Veera) as Raaavanan. The roles of Hanuman, Soorpanaga and Kumbakarnan were played by Karthik, PriyaMani and Prabu respectively. The film opens with Veera readying himself to kidnap Ragini and as the film Proceeds audience alternatively get both good and bad opinions about the character Veera. Audience became much excited notably at three contexts during the course of the movie. The first one during the intro-song and next during the usure-poguthe song and another during the part when the controversy queen actress Ranjitha came to the scene.

The visualization effects and the cinematography would make everyone to freeze, with AR Rahman's music adding more chillness to it. Suhasini's Scripts were too good and apt to show the character Ragini as a brave and a bold girl. Vairamuthu's lyrics were amazing with the tribal flavour blended with village smell in classical Tamil.
A major flaw in this film is that some parts were a bit unclear among the audience, especially in the parts close to the climax. Whether Dev suspects Ragini really or he pretends as if he was suspecting her in order to trace out Veera's hidden place? Whether Ragini's feelings on Veera is just a sympathy or it is affection or something else ? Mani could have been clearer in those portions. It would have been nice if he had made those contexts as self-explanatory rather making audience infer something. Leaving these flaws, the film is definitely worth-watching and I'm sure that it will be a super hit in box office.

Delhi 2010

All sports lovers' eyes are now looking at New Delhi. It is because India, for the first time, going to host the Commonwealth Games. India, with the experiences of hosting 2 Asian games in the years 1951 and 1982, is set ready to reach another milestone by conducting the 19th edition of CWG.
This Edition of CWG is named as Green Games .As the name signifies; various measures have been taken up by the Government of India to make the games energy efficient, including rainwater conservation, high-level sewage management, and specials efforts to control CO2 emission from games related activities.
The budget for the 2010 CWG is estimated to be about US$1.6Billion, making this as the most expensive commonwealth games ever in the history. The host city New Delhi is being developed to international status with huge infrastructure up gradation. A supreme connectivity is being established between the city and the Games Village by means of Delhi Metro Rail Service and 8-lane expressways. In order to welcome millions of athletes and players from various countries, a third terminal building (at a cost of US$1.94 million) will have been constructed in the Indira Gandhi International Airport by 2010.
Regarding security, the government is going to deploy “tourists polices” all around the city. Tight security will also be provided in the games-venues and in the inner and the outer ring roads. During the recent Beijing Olympic Games when countries like England failed to conduct the torch relay successfully from the Tibetan protesters, India made it possible by providing an excellent security. This, in fact, satisfied the Commonwealth federation and gave them a strong belief that India is able to peacefully host the games despite terrorism threats.

The Games will be held from the 3rd to 14 October 2010. Massive venues are going to conduct the games of different categories. Games like Athletics, Lawn bowls, Weightlifting , Hockey , Archery, Cycling, Gymnastics, Wrestling , Rugby 7s , Netball , Badminton, Squash , Shooting , Boxing , Aquatics , Tennis and Table tennis will be played in different venues within Delhi . The venues for these games include Jawaharlal Nehru stadium, Dhyan Chand National, Talkatora Stadiums, Indira Gandhi Arena, Delhi University, Tyagaraj, Siri Fort Sports, Yamuna Sports Complexs, Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range, SPM Swimming Pool Complex and RK Khanna Tennis Complex.

It is sure and obvious that this CWG will play a major role in developing our county’s tourism industry. This is a better opportunity for us to show the richness of our social and cultural heritage, where the traditional aspects is well combined with the modern aspects. No doubt India will have a good stand in the international desk very soon. Thus, to say shortly, India is really INCREDIBLE …. Jai ho
